Titles:1st Duke of Norfolk.
Posts held: Earl Marshall; MP 1449 & in 1450s; High Sheriff of Norfolk and Suffolk; Member of the King's council;
Royalist: Supporter of Richard III.  
Ancestry: John was a descendant of English royalty through both sides of his family.
 
 John fought at at the Battle of Towton and at the Battle of Bosworth where he died.
 
Honoured:  Knighted by Edward IV at the Battle of Towton. Order of the Garter 1472.  
 
Connection to the manor: 5 x Great Grandfather of William the first Howard to own the manor.
