Title: Countess Stafford.

The manor & castle: Mary was jointly granted the manor & castle by the crown on the death of her brother and held it between 1637-93.

Family: 3 sons 6 daughters.

Father Edward Stafford, 4th Baron Stafford.

Mother Ann Wilford.

Sir William HOWARD

1614-1680

Title: 1st Viscount Stafford.

University: Attended St Johns College, Cambridge.

Posts held: Fellow of the Royal Society; Listed as an Ecclesiastical Commissioner.

The manor & castle: He was jointly granted the manor & castle by the crown on the death of his brother-in-law.

Fall out: He quarrelled with many of his family!

Honoured: Knight of the realm.

His demise: William was falsely implicated in the 'Popish Plot' by Titus Oates. He was executed for treason 1680.

Saintly: William was beatified by the church in 1929!

Father Thomas Howard, 21st Earl of Arundel.
