History: The history of the manor records that an Aylward was granted the manor by Athelston King of Wessex, but Athelston died in 939 41 years before this Aylward could have been born! Therefore the Aylward/Aelfweard granted the manor is possibly Athelston's half brother Aelfweard who could be a possible ancestor of Haylward/Aylward Meaw. Haylward/Aylward Meaw is a descendent of Edward the Elder and Alfred the Great and it seems the most likely line is through Aelfweard!
