Matilda of FLANDERS

1031-1083

Title: Queen of England and Duchess of Normandy.

Family: 4 sons 5 daughters.

The manor: The manor was given to her by William of Normandy and she held it between 1070-83. It passed to William as crown property on her death until he died in 1087!

Father Baldwin V, Count of Flanders.

Mother Adelel of France.

Daughters Adeliza; Cecilia; Matilda; Constance; Adela.

Notes about Matilda: She took the manor from Brictric when she had him imprisoned. Brictric had spurned her advances before she married William. On becoming queen she took her revenge! The manor was administered by Matilda and passed to her husband on her death and then to her son William Rufus.
