How the castle might have looked


Sir Edward STAFFORD 1477/8-1521
Top: Edward Stafford (1477/8-1521) never completed his castle (above) due to his trial and execution for treason. He wanted his castle to be a statement of his power and standing in Tudor England. Henry VIII saw him as a threat and not a supporter. Edwards lineage coming down from the Plantagenets may have been another factor in his demise!
Above: Had Edward completed building his castle it would have looked like this. The top photo shows the roof that was added to the steward's quarters to make that part of the castle habitable. For around 300 years the castle was allowed to fall in to ruin apart from the stewards accommodation.
