ÆLFGAR
c.980-aft.1062
Notes about his name: His name is translated from Ælfgar ( Anglo-Saxon) to Algar (modern English).
The manor: He was a Saxon theign and must have inherited the manor from his father. It is more likely that Haylward was his grandfather or even great granfather. Algar held the manor between c.1051-1062.
Father Aelfweard.
Mother Aelfgifu
Son Brictric.
Notes on the inheritance: Algar's son Brictric inherited the manor from him. There is practically no information on the Internet about Aelfgar/Algar! It is difficult to piece together his descendents. The only reference to his family says he was son of Haylward. However Haylward is more likely to have been his grandfather or great grandfather.
